SPEED-IT Banner Photoshop Design Contest
Theme: “Building the Smart South Cotabato through Stronger Academe-Industry Linkages”

I. Contest Overview

  1. This will showcase Contestants ability to demonstrate Photoshop skills where creative output must be accomplished within specific timeframes, resources, and design constraints.
  2. Contestants will be judged on their accuracy , proficiency with Photoshop, and ability to meet the given timeline. The caption must be complete and accurate, sufficient to convey the theme of this event. Contestants must use various skills, tools and techniques to create and assemble images.
  3. Supplied images must be recognisable as a central part of the banner design:
    • One collage theme demonstrating the use of Photoshop tools and skills.
    • One digital Photography image which has been improved or enhanced somehow using Photoshop.
    • One image created by vector (or a combination of vector and raster) tools and skills.

II. Guidelines and Regulations
  1. Contestants will be given thirty minutes (30) to work out the banner design. The banner design, in its entirety, must be a single work of original creation by the Contestant.
  2. The banner design must be submitted as two (2) separate .psd files and one (1) .jpeg file to analyze the images’ construction.
  3. All entries must be below 10MB for JPEG file, and 100MB for PSD file, minimum size 6000×3000 pixels, maximum 8000×4000 pixels. All images and files used to create the submissions must also be submitted.
  4. A narrative description in a Word document, (normally ¾ page to one page in length) of the design concept and what tools and skills where used to solve that problem must also be submitted.
  5. Once an entry has been submitted it cannot be changed. Contestants should submit the correct and final version of the image.
  6. Contestants not complying with the contest rules are subject to disqualification.

 III. Software

  1.  Adobe Photoshop CS6 will be used.

IV. Judging

  1. Judges in a panel of experts will vote for the winning entries from among all eligible entries based on the following criteria:
    • Overall Creativity and Concept
    • Creative adaptation of source images
    • Visual impact
    • Technical skills
  2. Contestants will be given a three (3) minute deliberation of the design concept and what Photoshop tools and skills where used. Each Judge will then be given one (1) minute to comment and to cast their votes (1-10, 10 is the highest). The Judges will select the three (3) winning entries for First Place Winner, Second Place Winner, and Third Place Winner. In the event of tie, the tied entries will be re-submitted to the Judges for a re-judging between the tied entries alone.
V. Conditions
  1. By entering the Contest, all Contestants grant an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive license to SPEED-IT, to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entries in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, in any media now or hereafter known. SPEED-IT will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such use.
  2. By entering, Contestants also agree to be bound by these Official Rules; that the decisions of the Judges are final and binding with respect to all matters relating to the Contest; and if the Contestant wins that School may use the winning design and each winner’s name, likeness, and/or voice in any publicity or advertising relating to the Contest or future promotions without compensation or approval.
  3. SPEED-IT reserves the right to verify the validity of the Contestant and to disqualify any Contestant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Official Rules or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the School to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
