But then, Expo 2012 would not be completed without the help and participation of The Southern Philippines Education and Entrepreneurs Development for Information Technology (SPEED-IT).
As they prepare for their presentation, crowds had already gathered to watch the robots perform. Scorpion Robot, Spider Robot, and Roverbot gave their best to amaze the crowd and the result was amazing indeed.

The summit also included the exhibit of the NDMU Automated Parking Lot and SPEED – IT’s Registration System. This shows that South Cotabateños knows how to excel rapidly in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) despite of many competitions.
Together with this summit, the Southern Philippines Education and Entrepreneurs Development for Information Technology (SPEED-IT), in coordination with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the provincial government, held a 2 – day Skills Competition event for the students of different schools and colleges of the province of South Cotabato.
The program was opened by the speech of the TESDA administrators and the president of SPEED – IT, Mr. RJ Sustiguer.

The competition involves the skills used in the field of Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) such as Flair Tending, Table Skirting, and Software Development. The SPEED – IT assisted the competitions on the first day, such as guiding the participants, assisting the crowd, and preparation of the materials.
After the waiter’s relay and table skirting competition, the scholars of the Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus had a demonstration of their robots on the stage. Crowd glimpse at how the scorpion robot attacks with speed and caution, harsh they say but yet entertaining. The spider robot and roverbot also performed their best at the demonstration.

Roverbot drove carefully at the black lines while removing obstacles along the way and spider robot joyfully stumps its feet on the table.The second day of the Skills Competition started early in the morning. Organizers and facilitators prepared the materials needed for the competition, computers, RJ45s, projectors, and other ICT related stuffs. Participants, audiences, and supporters went early to witness the said event. The crowd cheered when the Computer Hardware Servicing Competition started.
As the contestants of each groups concentrated on their task, the crowd continually cheered their school. The yells and cheers echoed to the walls of the mall, it was loud yet exciting to hear. While the audiences are having the loudest cheer, the atmosphere was quiet and tense in a certain room.

The Software Development contest was being held. Programmers were silent but nervousness can be read from the faces. The atrium was then quite when the Quiz Bee started.Only the Quiz Master and the ever – going mall announcement was heard.
Crowds had stayed silent either to observe what the participants would answer or to answer personally the questions asked. Audiences come and go while the Powerpoint Presentation competition is ongoing. Same cheers heard at the atrium but different turn of events. After the competition, and an ice breaker, Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU) and Green Valley students presented their ICT programs/systems confidently.

First to present is the group of Maricris G. Figueroa from, they presented the Online Geographic Information System. With this system, users, who can create an account, can search a location and it will appear in a form of a map with terrains.
There’s lot of things you can do in the system. Next who presented is the student of Green Valley, their system was a Library Database System, users can search through the database.
Another group from NDMU presented the Automated Parking Area System which could be understood by its name alone. The last group to present are the OJT trainees from SPEED – IT namely, Jan Kristy Jover, Kevin James Bernabe, and Emmanuel Jan Tan. Along with this was the launching of the said website based system. Mr. Christian Valeen Chiu, Vice President of SPEED – IT led the countdown of the launching.

Audiences, facilitators, and participants joined him as they count ten seconds backwards towards the launching of the website. After this, the SPEED – IT president, Mr. RJ Sustiguer gave a speech which includes the definition and aim of the website.
Before he ended his speech, he gave two trivia questions for the audiences to answer. After then, he announced the coming of Mr. Joel Villanueva, the Director General of TESDA, and the result of the Skills Competition.
Thirty minutes after, a team from the flair tending competition gave an intermission number. After a while the Director General of TESDA arrived at the venue. As he entered, the crowd gave applause to recognize his presence. This served as a signal for the facilitator to offer the certificates of appreciation to the judges and to announce the result of the ICT Skills Competition.

The cheers and yells went on and on as the announcer declared the winners of each event. Marvelous College of Technology was named champion in the Quiz Bee category, SITE & Driving School for the Powerpoint Presentation and Computer Hardware Servicing, no winner declared for the Software Development category. After the announcement has finished the Director General of TESDA gave a final speech to close the event.
The participants gathered their materials to ready their selves to go home, facilitators and organizers cleaned the area, and audiences scattered either to shop or to go home.
